Soft news- showbiz, celebrity gossip, entertainment and sports etc.

2) What type of news can you typically find in a broadsheet newspaper?

Hard news- more serious about politics, business, international affairs etc.

3) If someone is left-wing, which political party in the UK are they likely to support? Which newspaper would they be likely to read?

The Daily Mirror as they are in favor of equality and reform.

4) If someone is right-wing, which political party in the UK are they likely to support? Which newspaper would they be likely to read?

The Times as they prefer the traditional way things are and they're in favor of low taxes as they want less money to be spent on social care, health and education.

5) Why has there been a decline in newspaper sales in the last 25 years?

There are many reasons, such as the introduction of the television in the 1950s and the increase of TV in people's homes as well as the development of technology and the growth of digital news absorbed in the media and on the internet, which is more commonly used and now overrules the newspaper industry.

6) Why is a free press important in a democracy like the UK?

It is important as in a democratic country, we have the rights to freedom of expression so free press should be allowed and is needed to find out truthful information as well as criticizing the government when they go wrong.
