3) What must the BBC do to meet its public service broadcasting responsibilities? (Look at the five bullet points in the notes above).

They have to meet their mission statement and their key purposes so they have:
  • To provide information (that is supposed to be balanced)

5) How is TV and Radio regulated by Ofcom?

Although OfCOM is instructed by government, it is independent which means the BBC can remain impartial and does not simply broadcast what the government tells it to. OfCOM oversees all media channels and produces a code of conduct that all media channels must follow or have their licence to make content removed and/or be fined heavily. This includes what can be shown before the 9pm watershed and various other quality standards.

6) How do Doctor Who and His Dark Materials help the BBC to meet the BBC's remit to inform, educate and entertain? Answer this question in at least 150 words.

His Dark Materials entertains the audience with it's cool and exciting fantasy genre. This is because a lot of youngsters and teenagers find the fantasy genre interesting. Additionally, the series is excellent at giving the reader a limited, childlike perspective on a world that is overwhelmingly complex and adult. The series also has many exciting scenes such as the fight scene between Lyra, Will and the other kids their age that they found in the deserted island as well as the chase scene when they were chasing the kids to find out more information about the place they were stuck in, which was exciting as of its fast paced movement.

Doctor who provides entertainment and education for the audience as the characters are relatable and it teaches the modern audiences about the 1960s and it reflects the events of the time such as the Space Race and talks about science, which provides knowledge that the audiences can learn from with the talk about different dimensions. Also, it gives the audience an exciting genre that is science-fiction.
